Start By Contacting Your Practice

In many cases, speaking to the practice team is the quickest way to resolve a concern. You can contact reception by telephone, email or in person and ask for your concern to be passed to the practice manager.

Choose your local practice above so you can contact the team responsible for your care directly.

What To Tell Us

Please explain what happened, when it occurred, which practice was involved and what outcome you would like. If you are raising a concern for somebody else, the practice may need their permission before discussing confidential information.

We will acknowledge your concern, explain how it will be reviewed and keep you informed. NHS guidance says a complaint should normally be acknowledged and a discussion offered within three working days.

Complaints About NHS Dental Care

You can raise an NHS dental complaint either with the dental practice or with the local integrated care board that commissions NHS dental services. NHS England advises that you should not make the same complaint to both at the same time.

If the NHS complaints process has finished and you remain dissatisfied, you can ask the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman to consider the matter.

Complaints About Private Dental Care

Please contact the practice first so we have an opportunity to resolve your concern. If a private dental complaint cannot be resolved locally, the Dental Complaints Service offers free, impartial support for private dental care.

Confidentiality And Respect

We handle concerns as confidentially as possible and treat patients fairly and respectfully. Raising a concern should not prevent you from receiving appropriate care.

Please do not send detailed medical histories, identity documents or payment-card information in an unprotected general email. Your practice can explain a suitable secure process where further information is needed.
